A morning routines weekend idea seems... Interesting, right? Your first thought might be, "but how on Earth are we suppose to get a handle on our weekend, isn't that suppose to be our time off and time to relax???"
I totally hear you, and who wants rigidity in their weekends?! Spoiler alert, women who want more control over their life, that's who!
Women who want to wake up feeling nourished and rested! Women who would rather spend their Saturday mornings on the beach at sunrise with a coffee (than on a friends couch hungover unable to even open their eyes).

Our morning routines on the weekend can either set us up for success to ease away from drinking or it can actually lead us to temptations.
This is my argument: adopting any routine, specifically a morning routine, will ultimately help you drink less and get more control over your life.
When I started waking up at 5AM, not only was I telling myself in the wee-hours while I was walking to the bathroom with my eyes closed, "Ali, you are building character!".
But, after a while I actually started to notice how much more control I had in my general daily life. Instead of following the demands of my never-satisfied mind (telling me to snooze, sleep in, etc) I just kept waking up at 5am regardless of the day of the week.
Even regardless of the time I went to bed! Eventually, this morning habit gave me (and still does) a sense of overt control in my life.
Some people refrain from sugar, I wake up at 5AM...
So, where am I going with this? I learned the more consistent I was with my morning routine, actually, I was resisting temptations throughout the day because I held a strong sense of control...
These weekend morning routine ideas will help you stay in control without being overly rigid (even during the weekend when you want to go out, see friends, just relax, etc).
This post is all about morning routines weekend!

Weekend Morning Routine Ideas

1. Unpopular idea: Wake up with an alarm
But, don't worry, you can wake up whenever you want! The idea here is to keep that control on your day (and life in general). So, waking up with an alarm and following these tips, even if it isn't 5AM they still help!
Now, listen, if you went out drinking and absolutely want to die before you even think about getting out of bed, then maybe you shouldn't be drinking so much. I don't know, just a thought.
I know this sounds rigid, but it's just simple math, the night before understand how much sleep you actually want to get and plan your morning accordingly.
2. Morning sun and barefoot walk
This is one I ought to integrate more into my life, but something about stepping out into the sun barefoot on a Sunday morning just screams purity.
The warmth of the sun on your face as you close your eyes and dig your toes into the ground. Does it get any better than that?
Alternatively, I am sure you have heard of the "earthing" trend recently. I won't go into too much detail about that, but they are coming out with studies showing it actually reduces inflammation in your body.
Connecting with the Earth in anyway will keep you grounded, aligned, and pure (and keep you away from the booze!).
3. Morning beverage ritual
What is your drink choice in the AM? Coffee, tea or maybe cacao? Whatever your regular routine is, keep doing that! It is important to keep some sort of consistency with your routines to stay grounded and aligned.

The benefit? You don't lose control of yourself, you feel safe, and even feel in the continual flow. Could you imagine, if every 5 days, all the sudden your life flips upside down and nothing looks similar, then two days pass and it returns to normal?
That would be jarring! Right?
I know it is a bit extreme to say not having your morning coffee on the weekends would ruin your life (because that is not true). But, the point is to keep as much consistency as possible will keep you grounded during the weekends, especially if you are veering away from the drinking scene...
4. Avoid your phone for 1-2 hours
It goes without saying that our phones before bed and right when we wake up is not good. Our brains, minds, and hearts need time to settle into rest and time to awaken.
For women, not only does drinking affect our hormones, but too much blue light (the phone) can alter our hormones. This is from affecting our melatonin which results in a trickle down effect of all our other hormones! (Not even mentioning the detrimental effects of scrolling social media).
Let's honor our bodies and keep them pure. Slow your morning, it's the weekend! Enjoy your coffee, bask in the sun, and just BE.

5. One simple task
For me, every morning I always make my bed. Always. I read something somewhere once that said, making your bed every morning makes you have a more productive day.
Now, that would make 100% sense. Start your day with a W and it will probably be a great day. But, during your morning routines weekend you could quickly throw in some laundry, put the dishes away, or make your bed.
Simple tasks can have a great effect. Cleaning your space cleans your energy, so doing something as simple as making your bed will cleanse your energy as you move into the weekend...
5. Special weekend beverage
A special weekend beverage can make your weekend mornings feel extra special. The kicker is to have this ONLY on the weekends. Maybe you create a cute little ritual with your husband of having this outside on the porch after coffee or after breakfast.
You might be wondering what kind of "special beverage". Well, you can make espressos at home (or go buy some), you can make matcha at home, or you can make Rishi teas from their pure powders.
Make your own syrups, add your favorite milk, and enjoy!

6. Take time with your loved ones
Nothing beats special time with your family and friends (that does not involve drinking or unhealthy behaviors). Maybe your husband, roommates, or yourself, take a few moments sitting outside with your coffee to just breathe and slow down.
A super simple morning routines weekend idea that WILL change the direction of your weekend. Getting filled up with wholesome quality time never goes unnoticed!
7. Make breakfast at home
Some weekenders LOVE going out to brunch on the weekends! I honestly don't blame you, it can be so amazing. Even if you do go out to brunch opt for a booze-free time.
Or make breakfast at home, invite friends over, and enjoy those Rishi powder teas (even make them into a latte!). My favorite thing recently has been breakfast potatoes and eggs... To DIE for!
8. Read a book
Another simple addition to our morning routines weekend list of ideas! Have you ever had that one book that you just can't put down?! Sometimes I get those books and it will consume my life (in the best way).
When you have that book, cherish it (for me and for everyone searching for yet another page-turner)! And the weekend is the BEST time to curl up, have a coffee, and have zero other responsibilities.
Additionally, in morning out brains our on a certain frequency perfect for absorbing new and complex information. Think of the early morning as your brains short programming window of time!

9. Honor your day(s) off
What days do you take off of work? Saturday and Sunday? The key here is to actually take those days off... I know that seems like a crazy concept!
When I started writing and learning how to write (because it is actually not that easy), Monday morning would come and I would look back on the week puzzled? What just happened? Did I work every single day?
Just recently I have been taking forced days off to deepen other parts of my life. We all need that! We all need days off.
Additionally, if we are running on the midnight oil and pushing ourselves maybe a little too much that can lead to impaired judgements and decisions.
Yes, I am talking about the "stress relieving" bar scene on the weekends that might sound like a good idea, but really it is just because you might be overworked and wildly fatigued.
Though, that is for the most extreme cases, but it is a good reminder that we honor our days off and take adequate rest to nourish and replenish.
10. Self-care rituals
The perfect weekend morning routine can most definitely include a little self-care! Maybe you have a favorite face mask, hot shower routine, or even some simple yoga.
Taking care of ourselves will show us that that we love ourselves, and when we think highly of ourselves we are less likely to do damaging things (like over consume alcohol). Right?! And what better time to love on ourselves then the weekend mornings?!
11. Get in some exercise
On my last morning routines weekend ideas... I find that having a really awesome workout class absolutely changes my routines. It is so easy to simply show up somewhere, get a great workout in, then leave without having to build the workout yourself.
Or go on a bike ride, a run, and brisk walk on the beach, all can really add nourishment to your weekend and get you aligned.
Other Gentle Weekend Routine Ideas

12. Have intentional nights out
Not even joking, it was just last night that I did this... The best way to have nourishing weekend morning routines is to understand that your morning routine actually starts at night.
If you go to sleep late, go out drinking, etc, then your morning will show the effects of that. Alternatively, if you go to sleep early, hydrate, etc, your morning will also show that.
So, having intentional nights out (especially on the weekend) will project you further towards a beautiful morning.
When I go out, I have a drink plan and a checklist to get me prepared for my days ahead, the night out, and more. I love moving things around like a puzzle to fit perfectly.
Here I made this a printable version so you can also have intentional nights out that fit perfectly. Because your morning routine starts at night...

13. Journal your weekend/day plan
We all love some journal time in the morning, and especially on the weekend when we have more time and space to breathe life into it.
Add this into your weekend routine for greater alignment for your day and your week ahead. I swear by using my planner and journal!
Something about writing things down HAS to do something to our brains. Do you ever feel that it actually releases the brains tension when you write your frantic to-do list down? All the sudden your shoulders drop and a gentle smile wipes across your face?
'Cause same!
14. Garden, water your plants
We had to add the lovely weekend routine idea of planting, gardening, tending to the yard! Maybe this is more for the husbands?!
No, we love it too ladies, right? Pop some headphones in and go around watering your plants, watering your garden, maybe evening moving some plants into pots, etc.
You get the point! Working outside, with plants, can drastically change our chemistry in the body to relax us, ground us, and ultimately bring us joy.
Now, that is the top morning routines weekend ideas!! You can mix and match these ideas to make your own. But, no matter what you choose you will stay in control and aligned even through the crazy whirlwind of the weekend!
